Behind Modern Heirloom Studio

Sé approaches marbling on textiles with a sense of cultural antiquity and individuality. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and immigrating to the U.S. in 1999, she has developed a deep connection with her heritage as well as her eclectic personality, demonstrated throughout each hand-marbled piece.

Her fascination with marbling began the moment she realized that no combination of mixed paint and water can recreate the same design again. None of her textiles will be mass produced and each piece will have its own story. Her emphasis on originality is evident in her current collection, and it will be at the forefront of commissioned pieces.
